What this extension does

WhatsApp Audio Transcriber is a Chrome extension that transcribes voice messages on WhatsApp Web into text. It works entirely within your browser.

Data we collect

We do not collect any personal information. The extension does not require an account, email, or any form of sign-up.

How audio is processed

When you click "Transcribe" on a voice message, the audio is sent to a Cloudflare Worker that runs the Whisper v3 Turbo AI model. The audio is processed in real time and immediately discarded. No audio files are stored on any server.

What is stored locally

The extension stores the following data in your browser using Chrome's local storage:

• A random client ID (to track daily usage limits, not linked to your identity)
• A cache of transcription results so you don't have to re-transcribe the same messages
• A daily usage counter that resets every day

All of this data stays on your device and is never sent to any server.

Third-party services

The only external service used is a Cloudflare Worker for AI transcription. Cloudflare processes the audio under their privacy policy. No other third-party services are used.

Data sharing

We do not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties.

Permissions used

• storage — To save transcription cache and usage counter locally
• activeTab — To detect when WhatsApp Web is open
• scripting — To inject transcription buttons into WhatsApp Web

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update this page with the new date.
